Crismary Pascarella creates layered mixed-media works that investigate the relationship between architecture, memory, and place. Rooted in her practice as an architect, her process is one of accumulation, where paint, plaster, collage, wire, and textured materials are repeatedly built, revealed, and transformed.
Inspired by the geometry and complexity of cities, Pascarella's work functions as a form of cartography—mapping not only streets and structures but the experiences, histories, and emotions embedded within them. She sees the city as a living organism, continuously rewritten by those who inhabit it, where every surface carries evidence of time and every layer preserves a fragment of memory.
Through transparency, texture, and material exploration, she constructs compositions that blur the boundary between landscape and memory, inviting viewers to navigate spaces that are both familiar and imagined. In her work, the visible surface is never the whole story; what remains beneath is equally essential, reminding us that every place is shaped as much by what has endured as by what has changed.
